Earlier this month, it was announced that Virtue Poker had partnered with the Binance NFT Marketplace to offer a unique NFT.
Virtue Poker is the world’s first fully licensed blockchain based peer-to-peer platform. Meanwhile, Binance is currently the largest crypto exchange in the world in terms of daily trading volume. It has been working hard to tap into the rapidly growing NFT industry.
The NFT in question has been dubbed “the Phil Ivey Golden Ticket NFT” after Phil Ivey, the Tiger Woods of the poker world. Ivey has been working with the Virtue Poker team for over three years now. The NFT is set to be auctioned off on the Binance NFT Marketplace on July 27th 2021.
But this isn’t any ordinary NFT auction. The auction winner will also gain access to a real-world once-in-a-lifetime experience: a celebrity poker tournament that is set to include Ethereum Co-Founder Joe Lubin, NBA Hall of Fame player Paul Pierce, YouTube star Mr. Beast, and Hollywood actor Vince Vaughn.
The way things are heating up, it’s starting to look like the poker tournament could turn out to become an even bigger selling point than the NFT itself.
A couple of days after the news was made public, Binance CEO, CZ, promoted the sale through a tweet:
Soon after, Phil Ivey tweeted about the event himself, following it up with “I’ll see you there, @cz_binance”.
If you thought it couldn’t get any better, CZ actually accepted! As full of banter as ever, Ivey warned CZ that he better get practicing:
CZ, on the other hand, seemed skeptical…
It goes without saying that CZ probably won’t be “just fine” after playing poker with the guy who is widely regarded by poker fans as the best all-around poker player in the world...but it’ll be funny to watch, regardless...especially if you’re the winner of the auction! The back-and-forth Twitter banter is likely just the beginning.
The event run by Virtue Poker will take place in August 2021. The winner will then be invited to the 2021 World Series of Poker Main Event in October in Las Vegas. The winner will be presented with $50,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
